In the spring semester of 2019, the 4th Paradigm collaborated on an exploration of Denver’s crime data. I served as a project manager and guide for this project, working closely with the organization’s advisor, Alex Fout. Our goal with this project was to give students the opportunity to explore key concepts in data science on a real world dataset. The group discussed and practiced concepts such as exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, feature engineering, statistical modeling and forecasting, and ethics in data science. We introduced students to important technologies such as Python, pandas, SciKit-Learn, jupyter notebooks, and GitHub.
